    Collapse overview
Dr. Quillen is a statistical and population geneticist. Her studies are focused on complex traits and include analyses of both normal variation like skin pigmentation and tanning response and disease traits such as bone fracture and osteoarthritis. Dr. Quillen is interested in applying integrated omic analyses to study age-related disorders and their molecular and physiological basis. Her work blends transcriptomic and epigenetic data with proteomics and metabolomics to better understand bone health and metabolic disease in non-human primate models.

Profiling cell composition and methylation in bone pre-metastatic niche
Role Description: Define alterations in bone marrow cellular composition with cancer and comorbidities; develop a methylation profile for cancerous and healthy bone marrow; Assess how changes in the bone microenvironment with arthritis or obesity alter cancer metastasis.

Methylation analysis of bone cells to improve high-throughput evaluation of bone marrow composition and gene expression
Role Description: This project will develop an algorithm to adjust for variation in bone marrow and trabecular bone tissue cell composition based on methylation profiling of individual cell types. Analyses will include human, non-human primate, and mouse bone to generate a panel of markers with broad applicability to expedite translation. This research will enable the methylation analysis of bulk bone tissue in future studies of cancer metastasis, radiation exposure, and osteoporosis.
    Role: Principal Investigator

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
