Dr. Elsayed Z. Soliman is a distinguished cardiovascular epidemiologist and global leader in cardiology, epidemiology, and health services research. His career has focused on pioneering advancements in population electrocardiography (ECG), particularly improving ECG methodologies for large-scale studies and harnessing ECG markers to predict cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Currently, Dr. Soliman serves as Professor of Cardiology and Epidemiology and Director of the Epidemiological Cardiology Research Center (EPICARE) at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Under his leadership, EPICARE has become the central ECG analysis hub for groundbreaking NIH-funded studies such as ARIC, MESA, CHS, and SPRINT. By analyzing data from these landmark initiatives, Dr. Soliman and his team have developed innovative ECG markers that predict conditions like heart failure, sudden cardiac death, stroke, and atrial fibrillation—transformative tools for early intervention and risk assessment. With over 700 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Soliman’s work has reshaped the understanding of cardiovascular disease prevention and management, bridging population health insights with clinical practice. His contributions have earned him recognition as a globally respected authority in cardiovascular research, whose discoveries continue to save lives and inform practice guidelines.
