overview Dr. Parvesh Mohan Garg, from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, joined the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist faculty as an associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology in 2022. After receiving his M.B.B.S. in 2000 from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India, Garg earned his M.D. in pediatrics there in 2005. He served as a senior registrar in pediatrics and neonatology in Delhi, India, from 2005-09 and as a senior registrar in neonatology at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick, in Sydney, Australia, from 2010-11 before moving to the United States in 2011. Dr. Garg did his residency from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, and fellowship from East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina. He was an assistant professor of pediatrics from 2016-2021 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and got promoted to associate professor level in 2021. Dr. Garg has been actively involved in pediatric research activities for the last 12 years. He is interested in studying necrotizing enterocolitis and acute kidney injury in preterm infants. He has published 25 basic sciences and clinical science projects in a leading peer-reviewed journal. He was the national president of the Junior section of the Society for Pediatric Research from 2013-14. He has been an active member of the Society for Pediatric Research since 2021. He was the program organizer for physician wellness for neonatology providers at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for 2019-2022. He was nominated twice by Gold Humanism honor society twice by medical students. He believes in lifelong learning, and teaching is the best way of self-learning. He loves teaching evidence-based medicine to fellows, nurses, residents, and medical students. Dr. Garg likes spending time with family, taking long walks, and writing poetry.
